ADVICE!!!

I have never been one to even think about homeschooling my children but with the development of Prop. 8 and the world becoming increasingly evil it has crossed my mind. I want everyones opinions and I know how much people like to give their opinion! I was talking to my sister Vanessa about it while we were walking this morning and I said I'm going to post a blog and see what other people think, so let me have it!!!

Hi Sophie! How are you? This is a tough question! One we debate about all the time in our family. From what I know it depends on a million variables: the child, the year, the teachers, the school, the age, part day, full day, and on and on. We've pretty much decided to play it by ear, year by year. There's something to be said for socialization and learning to live righteously amidst opposition, but also something to be said for protecting your kids. With Prop 8, it would really depend, for me, on the teacher and curriculum and how the child was doing socially, academically, and in their relationship with me at that point. Clearly not an easy choice. Good luck!

I've totally thought about this too. There are some really good groups that do homeschooling. I remember photographing a fam a long time ago that did and they did it with a bunch of families and so the kids still were socialized. I don't know how it all works but it's always an option. I think though, where we live is a really good Christian area. I wouldn't worry about Kyle going to school out here, there are a lot of good wholesome families. Luckily Milk Harvey day was vetoed and hopefully Prop 8 goes well. It isn't an easy choice though. Just try to teach your kids well in the home and what is right and wrong. We can't keep them in a bubble but it is nice to protect them from some of those extremes. Good luck.
