Boy Scout for a day!!
I was always one of those young women that wanted to do all the fun activities the young men were doing, I could care less for arts and crafts. They get old after awhile. I finally got my chance when my cousin James called me and asked if I wanted to do the swim leg of the boy scout triathlon for my Uncle Randy and cousin Marshall's team. I was all over that, plus it gave me some more experience for my upcoming swim in the Magic Mountain Man Tri. Come to find out any girl can enter so my sister Vanessa and my mom did a two person team as well. James was doing the whole thing so I decided to do the whole event. You pay $30 no matter what, team or no team so they said I could compete with my team and as an individual. I haven't run since I injured my hip back in April, so I was a little nervous about that, but I told myself I would stop at the first sign of any discomfort. So one of four girls to enter the water we were off.
I exited the water about fifth which I was happy about. Except I was dying, I could barely run up the hill to the transition area. I so did not want to get on that bike, after I slapped Marshall's hand so he could get going for our team, I then took my time. So I was riding my bike and when I got to the dirt trail I noticed everyone off their bikes pushing up the hills. WHAT THE !!!! So I tried shifting down into first gear and my gear wouldn't shift out of second. Bummer! So I hopped off my bike and joined in with the pushing. I still hadn't caught my breath from sprinting the swim so I thought I was going to die! Well I came out of it and had fun flying back down toward the lake.
I felt great the whole entire run, but I still need to ease into my running maybe 2011 I could try for another marathon. Someday!! In the meantime these sprint tri's are pretty fun!!
James, Marshall, me and Uncle Randy!!
Me, Mom and Auntie Nessa
Yeah Baby! That's right we got first place for the adult team category! We each got a $10 gift card to In-n-out, so I can put every calorie back into my body that I just worked off!! It was awesome we had so much family there cheering us on, so so fun!!
Me and My Love!!
I have the greatest husband ever, that morning he was giving me all sorts of pointers for the bike course and had me take his sport vitamins! He made sure I was eating what I needed to. I hadn't eaten my Clif bar and the race was starting in like twenty minutes and he said, "Why haven't you eaten that you need to eat it right now!" He wrenched on my bike, cleaned my chain, changed my pedals and all while watching the boys because I had to leave early to check in. He then brought my bike up to the lake for me and set up all my stuff! What would I do without you! I love you my love!!
