Response to Prop. 8 vote!

Statement from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Since Proposition 8 was placed on the ballot in June of this year, the citizens of California have considered the arguments for and against same-sex marriage. After extensive debate between those of different persuasions, voters have chosen to amend the California State Constitution to state that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Voters in Arizona and Florida took the same course and amended their constitutions to establish that marriage will continue to be between a man and a woman. Such an emotionally charged issue concerning the most personal and cherished aspects of life — family, identity, intimacy and equality — stirs fervent and deep feelings. Most likely, the election results for these constitutional amendments will not mean an end to the debate over same-sex marriage in this country. We hope that now and in the future all parties involved in this issue will be well informed and act in a spirit of mutual...

Sign Waving Experience!

So for about a week and a half in the mornings I would drop my kids off at my moms and go stand on a corner of an intersection completely exposed to whatever anyone wanted to say, gesture, or throw! The first time I was a little nervous but it turned out to be a fun experience. Every morning I would get up and look forward to holding up my sign that said "Protect Traditional Marriage" Vote YES on 8!! The night before the election was a totally different experience, we had a big rally at the corner of Valencia Blvd. and McBean. It's one thing to stand with people who have your same beliefs but to stand amidst opposition was very interesting. I was standing with a group of people some holding yes signs and some holding no signs. I really had to bite my tongue a few times to not get into a debate with these teenagers. The majority of the no on 8 group were not even old enough to vote. I know we need to be respectful and maintain peace but it was hard when you hear things tha...

Pumpkin Carving!!

Image
This is the easy part! We solicited help from Lincoln and Nixon to dig out all the "yucky stuff" Not that they accomplished much but they had fun for a minute!! Look at this darling little boy, Aunt Briana gave Rocky a hair cut! He wasn't very happy about it but he survived! Brenna's dad Rush was overseeing our work! Until I got distracted getting the kids ready and he got stuck finishing my spiderweb design! Brenna carved a pirate ship and mine is a spider web with a spider. We attached those paper designs and now I have a lot more appreciation for the people that carve intricate pumpkins on Halloween. It was way harder than it looks and I didn't even do the whole thing! My hand was cramping after the first five minutes. They turned out pretty cute though!!

The Reward!!

Trick or Treating is hard work, but it's worth it! The boys are enjoying yummy fruit snacks! The next day Rich was digging in Lincoln's bag for candy and he said "I'm sure glad the boys went trick or treating!" He's already eaten most of their candy! HaHaHa! He says he eats it for the boys because it's not good for them! Yeah right!!

My Boys!!

I asked Rich to dress up with the boys since he has the same jersey as Lincoln. He went far beyond my expectations, he even put on Uncle Shane's pads and helmet! Looking good love!! Lincoln and Nixon stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Uncle Norris sitting on the driveway. He was so scary!! Lincoln was getting tired after the first few streets so then Uncle Norris started carrying him around!! What a nice Uncle!! Lincoln, Nixon and Ashton!! Best Buds!!

Halloween 2008

What cute kids! Lincoln had his football outfit that he got for Christmas last year so he was a football player and then we had the extra jersey so Rocky was a football player too. I wasn't going to buy a costume for him when he probably wouldn't even want to wear it. Ashton was going to be a knight because he wanted to have a helmet to wear, so when Lincoln said he was going to be a football player Ashton changed his mind because football players wear helmets too. Nixon is Evil Kenevil, the boys all loved his racing helmet! Sierra is Giselle from the movie Enchanted, she looked gorgeous! Brenna is a kitty cat, and Norris is the Joker! Rocky loves saying "Cheese"!  There's my awesome football players! I custom made the DUNN letters on the back of Rocky's jersey, it came with a set of iron on numbers so I used two of the numbers and then from the other numbers I cut out the letters. It turned out so cute! Rocky was having so much fun trick or treating. The firs...

Uncle Shane's Football Game!!

Image
Rocky likes to throw little tantrums, where he throws himself flat on the ground either on his back or tummy whichever is more convenient. It usually only lasts a minute and then he gets up and starts playing again. He is so funny!! Uncle Norris and Aunt Brenna came in town from Utah for Halloween. It was so fun having them here, we've missed them since they moved up there. The kids just love them!! Rocky was running straight for me, look at how long his hair is I think it's time for a hair cut!! This is Briana riding Nixon's tiny bike. It was hilarious!!! They also came up from Irvine and stayed for the weekend, so so fun!!! This is Shane's freshman year of high school football and he is doing so awesome!! It is so fun to go to his games and watch him play and do so well!! It is one of the highlights of our week going to Uncle Shane's football games on Thursday afternoons!! Go Shane, Go HART!!!
