Day 5-Boating at Utah Lake

Image
What a fun day this was!! One of Rich's childhood friends that he has remained close to has a boat and offered to take us out, even after working a graveyard shift. They have a little boy, Braxton that is a little older than Lincoln and a little girl Anissa that is a little older than Rocky. They all warmed up to each other really fast too. We got out in the boat and drove a ways and then when we stopped we jumped in the water. Utah lake is really shallow so the water was really warm. It was over 80 degrees. I could have swam in it all day! Lincoln does NOT like cold water so he was in heaven as well. Every time we stopped Braxton and Lincoln would get in the water. Rich got out on the wakeboard and tore it up after five years of not going out. I did my first jump woo hoo!! :) Trish was awesome on her single ski, Lincoln was scared on the tube and Rocky loved it!! It was a day to remember!! Brought back memories of when I was a little kid going out on the lake! Even though I can...

Day 4- Hiking Stewart Falls

Image
This morning we woke up and got ready for church, Norris drove up from Provo, Brenna stayed home because she wasn't feeling very good. We went to Chris and Heather's ward because it was at 11:00. After sacrament meeting we drove down to Alpine to have lunch at Rick and Jet Patterson's. It was fun to visit with them and the kids had fun playing together. We then went up the Alpine loop into sundance, which takes forever, but it was beautiful. We met up with one of Rich's old mission buddies Sam and his fiance, Brittan and Trisha also came up which was fun. Everyone took turns with the boys when they were tired. It is quite a little hike for these little guys. Norris was in slippers and Rich and I had on flip flops. On the way back down from the falls Norris was my helper with the boys, his shirt was filthy from having the kids on his shoulders. I still don't want to strain my hip so I refused to carry either of them. They did really good and had fun throwing rocks in...

Day 3- Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Image
Grandma got us all tickets to go through the new temple in South Jordan. It is the 130th temple worldwide. Hattie wasn't feeling well so we took Camille along. We waited a few minutes and then went into a big tent to sit and watch a brief video about temples. We then were directed to the temple to walk through. We went through the baptistry which was Lincoln's favorite. Then up through the endowment rooms and ended in one of the sealing rooms, where a couple bore their testimony about the temple. We showed the boys how you can look in the mirrors and see your family forever. Then we went out into the reception tent and got a yummy cookie. It was great to be able to take the boys into the temple and Lincoln was able to give a talk in primary about his experience. We then picked up Cafe Rio on the way home, ate lunch, and took naps. Trisha and Grandpa took the boys over to a birthday party that Hattie and Camille were invited to. So they got to play in the big jumper and Lincoln ...

Day 2-Pioneer Day

We love to go to Utah the end of July so we can take part in the 24th of July celebration. So one thing I wanted to do was take the kids to the parade in Salt Lake City. It was a pain in the neck finding our way through downtown because they had all the roads blocked off for the parade and the marathon. We finally made our way through and we went to the end of the parade route because we were late and we didn't want to miss anything. The prophet is usually at the beginning of the parade. He wasn't in it this year but we did get to see President Eyring and wave to him and his wife. The Salt Lake motorcycle cops came by and were doing cool formations and then a group of them came by and gave the boys high fives. The rest of the parade Rocky wanted to give everyone a high five. It was so dang hot I poured water on the boys and we ended up moving off of the street back on this grassy knoll under a tree which was much more pleasant. The kids could run around and then stop and watch ...

Summer Trip to Utah- Day 1

Image
We began our drive to Utah at about 2:00 in the afternoon on the 22nd of July. The boys were absolutely perfect the entire 10 hour drive. Not one complaint, not even a whimper out of them. About halfway into the drive Lincoln kept asking over and over, "How much longer until we get to Utah." He doesn't quite understand the time concept so he continued to ask until he fell asleep at around nine thirty. They were very excited to go stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house. The next morning Rich went with his brother and sister on a bike ride in Salt Lake on a trail he rode on as a kid. They had a great time. I went with Charlene, Heather and the kids to Hattie's swim lesson. She is swimming so good! On the way back to Bountiful we stopped at The Soup Kitchen and got some sandwiches and the most delicious creamy tomato soup ever made. We make a point to eat at all of our favorite places. So we ate lunch and then headed up to Park City. Rich's mom treated all of us kid...

A Fun Getaway!

My wonderful mom and stepdad had our kids sleep over again last night so we went to Stake Temple Night, which was great! I received my own little inspiration of who our next bishop would be. Jack McKeon came over to us and shook our hands and I looked at Rich and said he's going to be our bishop. Anyway this morning I did not want to get out of bed. I seriously was struggling I didn't have the boys bugging me to go downstairs with them I just wanted to lay there forever. It doesn't help that we have the best mattress ever made! I finally rolled out of bed and went downstairs to make my creamy delicious Isagenix shake. Rich and I got a late start on the trail over at the end of San Fernando and it was hot. I told him not to wait for me just to go and I was only going up to the gate. I made it all the way to the gate without stopping once I was very proud of myself. We went from there over to the Watson's so Rich could help them move. When we got there we didn't have ...
